Director of Development - Planned Giving

Exempt Position Description

Department: St. Ann's Foundation & Resource Development Reports to: VP & Chief Dev Officer

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of your position is to plan, coordinate and implement philanthropy programs for the benefit of St. Ann's Community.

Job Functions

Performance Outcomes

  • Lead planned giving efforts for St. Ann's Foundation. Includes identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors. Manages relationship with planned giving marketing firm.
  • Manage a portfolio of current and potential donors to ensure their continued engagement with St. Ann's Community. Prepare proposals and other needed materials to support this process.
  • Oversee our planned giving society.
  • Plan and coordinate donor stewardship activities for planned gifts including timely acknowledgements, planning and implementation of recognition and stewardship events and periodic reporting as needed.
  • Support major gift and annual giving efforts.
  • Provide staff support to the Foundation Board and its committees as assigned.
  • Meaningfully engage with Elders by participating in organized engagement programs and relationship building.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the advancement of St. Ann's Community philanthropy programs.

Core Tasks:

  • Manages complex relationships with individuals and organizations including community leaders, elected officials and key donors.
  • Maintains confidentiality of donor giving records and resident information
  • Works effectively across all levels of St. Ann's Community, especially with leadership staff and Board members.
  • Complies with applicable organizational policies and procedures (ie: mandatory education, health requirement, HR requirements).
  • Reliable, dependable and punctual in use of work time.
  • Demonstrates initiative and cooperation in professional working relationships.
  • Demonstrates a commitment of quality through participation on improvement teams & identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Works to improve performance relative to the system's organizational goals.
  • Consistently delivers high quality service being responsive to customer needs.

REQUIREMENTS

Some evening and weekend availability is required.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and infectious diseases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree and four to six years of professional experience in development/fundraising environment, non-profit, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Solid writing, interpersonal, team building and oral presentation skills are essential. Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of programs. Experience and proficiency at Blackbaud Raiser's Edge software a plus. Must have reliable transportation to and from work-related events throughout the course of the workday.

Language:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence, proposals and other technical writing materials. Ability to effectively present information in oneonone and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Physical & Sensory Requirements

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Safety Factors

The employee is required to ensure personal safety, monitor work environment and make necessary improvements while ensuring the safety of others to include, adhering to regulations set by OSHA, DOH, and facility regulations, to include fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc. Tasks involved in this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.

Continuing education in fundraising and related skills is encouraged
